10 Inspiring Mockups of Lavender and Twine Quilt
Lavender and Twine Quilt
Lavender and Twine quilt was inspired by the sweet vintage block historically known as "Bridal Bouquet" or "Nosegay." It's sister was originally featured as one of the EPP blocks in Red Sky at Night quilt, a vintage block inspired sampler quilt. We've since adapted the block yet again and played with the layout to modernize it while staying true to its vintage heritage.
So, we thought it would be fun to round up a few mockups of Lavender and Twine quilt inspired by other stitchers, our own inspiration, and vintage versions across the internet. Whether you love fussy cutting, high or low contrast, a limited color palette, or a home for your most beloved scraps, you're sure to find inspiration in these beautiful quilts!
Make the Posies Bloom- Sash of @indigo_elephant
While her blocks are more varied than this full mockup, we love that she’s colored the posies to look like a flower in bloom with the diamonds mirroring each other. The soft pinks, golds, and oranges paired with a gentle green capture a perfect golden hour glow.

Low Contrast Scrappy Stems - Karen of @piecesofcontentment
While her posies are made of scrappy diamonds in a variety of colors the square “berries” and kite “stems” are a single color but in various fabrics. The low contrast stems make the posy flowers really shine!

Ombre for the Win - Lisa of @stitchingthejourney
I’m currently in a season where decisions need to be at a minimum, and I’ve found that during seasons like that, choosing a simple ombré color palette and an anchoring solid/color helps create variety while minimizing decision making. I’m also limited in time so I’m only making a cushion in this particular mockup, but wouldn’t a whole quilt be so fresh and springy?

Use a Limited Palette
In a similar vein to my ombre version, this limited palette has even less decisions to be made! Pick your favorite 4 colors together, choose which shape gets each, and get lost in basting. Also, navy as the background is one of my favorite choices.
Three Color Blocks
As an alternative to an all over limited palette, you can limit the palette to each block. Lavender and Twine is constructed as a single block featuring 4 bouquets radiating around the center of the block. So, it’s a great opportunity to limit your decisions while also playing with different fabric combinations in each block.
Refined Scrappy - Jodi Godfrey
The cover version of Lavender and Twine definitely has a scrappy vibe to it, but if you look closely, Jodi has used scraps with intention. All of the stems are brown, but they’re in various prints rather that a single solid. The pink berries are featured the same way. It’s a great way to get a scrappy vibe but evoke the rest and order achieved by using solids.
Use a Fabric Collection - Jodi Godfrey
We all have a fabric bundle sitting in a bin or on a shelf somewhere, right? Well, this version features a fabric collection only in the diamonds and pairs it with two solids in order to let the fabric bundle shine while giving the quilt places to rest.
The fabric collection is City of Dreams by Monika Forsberg for Free Spirit fabrics.
All the Scraps - Jodi Godfrey
Sometimes just diving into your scraps with abandon is just the ticket! Jodi is making an all over scrappy version for the QAL and just this glimpse of her posies in process shows how stunning this quilt will be!
Scrappy Stems
While most of these mockups feature the stems in a single color (even though the prints might vary), doesn’t it look lovely when each bouquet is its own mini block featuring scrappy stems?
Vintage Inspired
This quilt pattern is inspired by the vintage quilt block commonly known as “Bridal Bouquet” or “Nosegay.” We’ve reworked it to be more EPP friendly and to created a fresh layout. But, scrolling through vintage versions of the original blocks is so fun! So we had to include a mockup with lots of scraps, red “berries” and black “stems.” Perfect for those of you with heaps of reproduction prints longing for a purpose!
